How do I add cash transactions?

You can manually add cash transactions to your MoneyBrilliant service to track your cash spending. It’s important to know that cash transactions are accounted for in the balance of your Cash Account which is available in Net Worth (located in your Overview dashboard).

Cash transactions are commonly used to account for ATM transactions from your online account. See our Help article on How do I split transactions including cash and ATM transactions? for further guidance.

The Cash Account is like your virtual wallet. When you create cash transactions, it records these in your Cash Account. You can create cash transactions to add cash to your Cash Account and create cash transactions to spend from your Cash Account.

You can add cash transactions through your Cash Account in Net Worth.

To add a cash transaction:

Mobile App

  1. From your Net Worth screen, click into your cash account
  2. Select the 3 dots at the top right-hand corner of your screen and choose Add a transaction
  3. Add a description, a merchant, an amount, the date of the transaction, the category and whether it’s a Debit (if you spend cash) or Credit (if you receive cash)
  4. Click Save

Remember, adding cash transactions will impact the balance of your Cash Account.

You can view your cash transactions in your Cash Account (in Net Worth) or in My Transactions.

Cash transactions can be deleted by selecting the delete option available when you select the transaction you wish to delete.

Desktop app

Cash transactions can be identified by the cash icon in the transaction description.

  1. From your Net Worth screen, click into your cash account
  2. Go to your Account transactions and select Add Transaction 
  3. Add a description, the category, the date of the transaction, the amount of the transaction and whether it’s a Debit (if you spend cash) or Credit (if you receive cash)
  4. Click Save Transaction

Cash transactions can be deleted by clicking into the transaction and selecting the Delete button.
